About Pam Wijnberg

Welcome to Pam’s Music Studio, where the joy of music comes alive one lesson at a time. With over 30 years of teaching experience in leading schools across the Western Cape, and as a professional flautist, I bring real performing experience into every piano and flute lesson.

Whether you’ve dreamed of learning an instrument for years, are finding your way back to music, or have a child who is eager to begin, you are warmly welcome here. Each lesson is tailored to the student’s level, pace, and goals, and to the music that inspires them, blending warm encouragement with solid technique. Students also have the chance to perform in outreach concerts throughout the year. 

I feel blessed to share my love of music with my students, and I would be delighted to be part of your musical journey.

Viviamo per l’Arte, Italian for “We live for Art,” is a trio born of deep friendship and a shared passion for music. We have performed together since 2021 and are proud to have published a book together, Flute Duos from the Well-Tempered Clavier by J.S. Bach. Duo Cantilena’s Jill MacArthur and Pamela Wijnberg share a passion for expressive storytelling, drawing inspiration from repertoire that weaves the lyrical, vocal qualities of the flute and the harmonic textures of the piano in rich dialogue.

Piano Lessons

Pam majored in piano at UCT, where she earned a first-class pass in piano in each of her four years of study. She offers individual tuition for children and adults, with a focus on sound technique, theory, expression and repertoire suited to each student’s interests. She also includes ensemble skills from early on, as playing with other musicians is a vital skill to learn.

Flute Lessons

A passionate professional flautist who loves sharing her knowledge and expertise. Lessons cover breathing, posture, tone, phrasing and performance preparation, plus how to use the body when making music. Students don’t just become flautists. They become complete musicians.

Adult Learners

A relaxed, encouraging approach for beginners or those returning to music later in life to play for pleasure and creative fulfillment. Learning an instrument is also a wonderful gift to your brain: research suggests it may help lower your risk of cognitive decline and keep your memory sharp, while lifting your mood and connecting you with others. It’s never too late to begin.
